How To Measure for Picture Frames :
Measuring your piece is simple. The measurements you take will determine how well your frame fits your picture, so it's important we get accurate measurements to ensure the best size.
Before You Start You Will Need:
- Your picture
- Tape measure
- Notebook & pen
For Photo Frames without mount / Matt:
All frames are measured using the inside dimensions, height and width. So if you have a 30x40cm image, you need to order a 30x40cm frame. It's a common mistake to assume the dimensions relate to the outer edges.
Measuring your picture to fit directly into a frame with no mount is very simple:
- Lay and flatten your print on a level surface
- Take the measurements of the height and width of the area you'd like to frame. If you're planning on trimming your print, please do so before taking measurements. If your print has white borders and you don't want to see them, you'll need to trim them off.
- Please double check your measurements
For Photo Frames without mount / Matt:
All frames with mount have two dimensions:
- Frame Size
- Picture / Aperture Size
Frame Size is the inner dimensions of the frame.
Picture Size / Aperture Size is the inner dimensions of the mount. It's the size of Picture / Artwork you want to frame.
If you want to know how big the mount / matt border will be, just minus the picture size from the frame size and divide it by two.
For Example : "20x20" Frame for 16x16" Picture" means the aperture of the frame is 20x20 inch and aperture of the mount is 16x16 inch. And mount border will 2 inch on both sides.
So in this case First thing you need to know is the size of picture or art you want to frame. Measuring your picture to fit into the mount:
